School Secretary

Salary: Commensurate with experience 195 Days (Salary begins $24,104.00)

Anticipated Start Date: August 2024

Minimum Requirements:

High school degree or equivalent

2-5 years experience working in a fast-paced, clerical setting, Prior school secretary experience.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in education secretarial work.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal skills in working with children and adults

Proficient in Google suite and all Microsoft Office programs. Strong office skills included.

Highly organized and meticulous about records, documentation, and accuracy

Preferably Speaks French

Ability to understand complex systems

Ability to seek out and learn information and work independently

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create lasting relationships

Responsibilities:

Supports all aspects of the Front Desk including, but not limited to: answering phones, in-person walk-in's, general student and parent inquiries, makes announcements via intercom, updates appropriate databases and communication tools as directed.

Prepares materials needed for meetings, such as agendas, handouts, binders etc..

Takes inventory of office and school supplies and works in conjunction with the Director of Operations on plans to ensure appropriate supplies and correct amounts are ordered.

Supports attendance calls to students and families.

Communicates with students and parents on pertinent school updates and information.

Helps maintain student files for compliance.

Other duties as needed.

This is a position that includes all benefits afforded to Louisiana State employees including a choice of one of five Medical benefit plans with options of additional supplemental insurance plans. Employees receive ample time off surrounding holidays and extended weekends when the school is closed for instruction. This position also qualifies for participation in the Louisiana State retirement plan.

École Pointe-au-Chien is a free public school based in Pointe-aux-Chien and governed by an independent state board with a French immersion curriculum consistent with Louisiana state standards and rooted in our local bayou Indian and Cajun French culture. École Pointe-au-Chien opened August of 2023 for grades K and 1st, will add Pre-K and 2nd in the school year 2024-25, 3rd grade in 2025-26, and 4th grade in 2026-2027.
